We respect your privacy and aim to be transparent about the data we collect and how we use it. This policy applies to the PlantMind app (mobile and web) and related services.

Information we collect

We collect information needed to provide and improve the service. This may include:

• Account information: name, email, and optional phone number.
• Profile information: profile photo/avatar if you upload one.
• App content: plants you add, related photos, and care details you enter.
• Subscription/payment identifiers: plan status and provider IDs used for verification (we do not store card details).
• Technical and diagnostic data: basic device/browser info and error logs to improve reliability.
• Push notification tokens: to send reminders/alerts when enabled.

Permissions we may request (and why)

Depending on your device and which features you use, the app may request:

• Camera: to take plant photos and upload them to the app.
• Photos/Media library: to select existing photos to upload.
• Location (optional): to improve local weather data and weather-based tips/alerts. You can use the app without enabling location.
• Notifications: to deliver reminders and alerts (care schedule, weather alerts, etc.).

AI, plant identification, and photos

Some features may process the content you submit:

• Plant photos may be processed by a plant identification provider to generate identification and care insights.
• AI chat messages may be processed by an AI provider to generate responses.
• Do not upload sensitive personal information in photos or chat messages.
• You must have the rights/permission to upload any images you submit.

How we use your information

• Provide core features: plant tracking, schedules, saving photos and content.
• Provide AI assistance and diagnostics when you request it.
• Provide weather data, tips, and weather-based alerts.
• Send reminders and notifications when you opt in.
• Improve performance, security, and prevent abuse.
• Customer support and responding to requests.

Sharing with third parties

We may use third-party providers to deliver parts of the service. They may process limited data only as necessary to operate, such as:

• Notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications.
• Weather: OpenWeather (or similar) to show weather and related tips.
• Plant identification: Plant.id (or similar) processes plant photos you submit for identification and care insights.
• AI assistance: an AI provider may process chat text and/or analysis requests you submit.
• Payments/subscriptions: handled by platform providers (e.g., Google Play / Apple / PayPal). We do not receive your card details directly; we may store subscription status and identifiers needed for verification.
• We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
• We do not sell personal data.

Security and encryption

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption in transit via HTTPS/TLS when connecting to our servers.
• Secure password storage using hashing (not plain text).
• Access controls and operational safeguards.
• Note: no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we continuously work to improve protections.

Data retention and account deletion

• We retain data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations.
• You can request account deletion by contacting support. Backups may persist for a limited period as part of normal operations.

Children's privacy

• The service is not intended for children under the legal age in your country. If you believe a child provided personal information, please contact us.
